Where I Am Now

Where I Am Now - Coursework  Mise-en-scene:   Costume : With one (kind of two) character(s) in the film there are three outfits worn by them. The first being black jeans, black top, and a black coat. This is to symbolise his grieving over his sister, with black having connotations with death and also foreshadows him being haunted by his inner demons  The next costume is a set of pyjamas that he wears in the night-time scenes, to highlight to the audience the time of day and also provokes an emotional reaction within the audience as his innocence is shown. Finally, the doppelganger will wear swimming trunks and a top that will be dripping wet to show the audience this is the outfit he wore when he nearly drowned.  Setting : The first setting is at Cromer Beach where the incident happened, and the boy is shown looking out and remembering the tragedy. Trapped (1 minute film task)

The film below was used as inspiration Evaluating the use of micro-elements in your short film  Mise-en-scene I didn't pay much attention to the mise-en-scene apart from the setting of it being a cupboard like the original video. This is quite effective as it highlights how the girl is trapped in a small space and can't get out any other way, therefore creating tension. Facial expressions were the main element of mise-en-scene used with Olivia looking mischievous as she locks Dani in the room, this forwards the narrative without any dialogue. However, perhaps with more time we could have established a better use of lighting, costume, hair and make-up to make the final product look more polished and sophisticated. Cinematography We used some of the same cinematography such as a pan shot, medium shots, and close-up shots. However, we didn't use a tracking shot like in the first video or different angles.
